Artist's Statement & Biography.

The process of discovery and the unending possibilities of the media, sculpted wax, and soft pastel, are utilized and intended to create images exhibiting a moment in time, to inhabit a place.

The contemporary artist’s exploration provokes questions of the known and unknown, engaging the viewer and artist through the stimuli of nature and design as a visual language. 

Linda Ackland-Kolb earned her MA from the University of Minnesota, Mankato, and her MFA from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. She has exhibited art locally and regionally, participated in numerous invitational and group exhibitions, solo shows, and has received several commissions. Her work has been featured in the Sioux Falls Woman publication and resides in permanent and private collections. She is presently working with soft pastels on beeswax ground.

Linda has presented and taught art in various settings, including public schools, universities, and on a reservation in South Dakota. Originally from Minnesota, she lives in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with her husband, John, and has two grown children.
